Shawn Stuckey

Zelle Hofmann congratulates Fall 2008 associate, Shawn Stuckey, on multiple awards and honors received during his third year of law school.

In February 2008, Shawn testified in Geneva, Switzerland before the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination. Mr. Stuckey was asked to testify after he contributed to Minnesota's Shadow Report critiquing the United States's compliance with its obligations under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. Mr. Stuckey testified, in part, to "make sure the [United Nations] panel hears voices from affected communities."

Following his return from Geneva, Shawn was named the recipient of two awards for his work while in law school.  Shawn has been named a recipient of the 2008 Human Rights Award, conferred by the St. Thomas School of Law Chapter of Amnesty International during its Fourth Annual Human Rights Awards Banquet on April 9.  In addition, Shawn was recently chosen by the St. Thomas School of Law to receive the school's Mission Award in the category of Scholarly Engagement and Societal Reform.

In 2007, Mr. Stuckey received the Minnesota Women Lawyers' Equal Justice Award for the best written law student article on a topic of equal justice.

Mr. Stuckey, who is a 3L at St. Thomas School of Law, is currently working as a law clerk in the firm’s Minneapolis office and will be joining Zelle Hofmann as a first year associate upon graduation. He and his accomplishments were profiled in the February 16, 2008 edition of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
