Municipal Derivative Antitrust Litigation – Scarpulla Interviewed

Municipal bond derivative antitrust litigation is growing and plaintiff lawyers are making strategic bets when it comes to the forums they choose for their clients. Attorneys say more municipalities are thinking about jumping into muni bond litigation, which involves an alleged conspiracy by major banks to rig the market for the derivatives that cities and counties use to invest their bond proceeds, some of which lost value because their insurers were exposed to the subprime mortgage meltdown. Lawyers are weighing the benefits and risks of choosing one forum over another.
