Equistar Chemicals v. Dresser Rand Co. etal.

(11th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas) A Harris County Jury awarded $3.6 million to Equistar Chemicals in a suit against Dresser Rand Company for defective equipment and services provided to Equistar at its Channelview, Texas Olefins plant. Equistar was represented by Dick Urquhart, Tom Cook and Brett Wallingford of the Dallas office of Zelle Hofmann. The jury unanimously found, after a two-week trial, that Dresser Rand was negligent, that the products provided were defective in design, marketing and manufacture, and that Dresser Rand breached its implied warranty of merchantability to Equistar.
